NEXX
The NEXX is a linux smartphone currently under development. It is designed to be highly modular and considerably more performant than current Linux phones such as the PinePhone. To that end it will use the Rockchip RK3588, a powerful chip often found in single board computers.[1] It will use discrete RAM and storage, modem and modem. Additionally it will incorporate kill switches for the modem, camera and microphone.[2]
The first development board (prototype) was created in April 2025.[3] Following what the firm considers a premature crowdfunding drive in June, they intend to have a functional prototype in hand before making another attempt. The shipping date is currently July 2026.[4]
