Due to finishing with the same record as the San Diego Conquistadors, the two teams had to play a tiebreaker game to determine the playoff spot, one of only two ABA Tiebreaker Games ever played to determine a playoff team. On April 1 in Denver, the Chaparrals won 115–109 to clinch the spot and eliminate Denver.
