The mayor of Marseille is the chairperson of the municipal council in Marseille, France, a civil officer of the state, and judiciary police officer. This position is elected by a municipal council through universal suffrage.[1] However, according to French law, a city can have a certain amount of councilors depending on the inhabitants.[2] This is sort of an exception for Marseille which has a set number of 101 councilors.[3] All French municipal councilors have no term limits but can have a total of six years per term in office. The mayor also has a six-year term limit and can also be elected with no set limit.
