T. P. Rangaraj, also known as Madhampatty Rangaraj, is an Indian chef, actor and the CEO of Madhampatty Thangavelu Hospitality Pvt Ltd, which caters in Tamil Nadu and its neighbouring states.[1][2] He made his acting debut with Mehandi Circus (2019), and later appeared in the thriller film Penguin (2020).

Cooking career

Rangaraj's passion was animation and he studied engineering before working in the food industry for a job.[2] In 1999, he took over his family's businesses along with his brother.[3] Rangaraj moved to Bangalore and started a mess.[2] When he returned to Madhampatty, he cooked for small functions.[2] Rangaraj went on to work with film crews and single-handedly providing them with meals.[2] He has worked as a caterer for over four-hundred weddings including actor Karthi's wedding.[4][2][3][5] Madhampatty Thangavelu Hospitality has also catered for events including the 2013 Coimbatore Marathon.[6][2][7] Rangaraj is credited for creating the recipe for green guava chutney.[8] He was also a judge during the fifth season of Cooku with Comali.[9]

Acting career

Rangaraj made his film debut with the romantic drama Mehandi Circus (2020).[10][3][11] In a review of the film by the Deccan Chronicle, the reviewer wrote that "Popular Chef turned hero Madampatti Rangaraj has been aptly cast as the lead protagonist".[12] His next film was the Tamil thriller Penguin (2020). He received the role after the director, Eshvar Karthic, saw Mehandi Circus.[1] Rangaraj later signed on to appear in Casino, the directorial debut of Mark Joel which began filming in November 2020.[13]

Personal life

Joy Crizildaa, a wedding stylist, released images in social media in 2025 mentioning she married Rangaraj, with whom she was now expecting a child. Rangaraj is, however, legally married to Shruthi, a lawyer, with whom he has two children, and fans disputed the veracity of Crizildaa's claims.[14]
