Chemical compound From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Remove ads
Magnesium glycinate, also known as magnesium diglycinate or magnesium bisglycinate, is the magnesium salt of glycine (one magnesium atom and two glycine molecules), and is sold as a dietary supplement.[1][2] It contains 14.1% elemental magnesium by mass.
Magnesium glycinate is also often "buffered" with magnesium oxide but it is also available in its pure non-buffered magnesium glycinate[3] form.

Uses
Magnesium glycinate has been studied with applicability to patients with a bowel resection[1] or pregnancy-induced leg cramps.[2] Less scientific research exists on magnesium glycinate in therapeutic applications than other more common forms of magnesium salt such as magnesium chloride, oxide or citrate.
A 2013 systematic review suggested that higher dietary magnesium intake may be linked to reduced depression symptoms and that magnesium supplementation could help treat or prevent depression.[4]
Magnesium deficiency is one of most common mineral deficiencies in people today. Many people consume less than the recommended amount by experts but the symptoms of low magnesium intake are not always noticeable.[citation needed]
