Perspective
Paul Booker is a low-level crook who accidentally discovers the secret identities of Green Lantern and the Flash after finding Thomas Kalmaku's casebook.[3] He then becomes a criminal using devices that can create natural disasters and protect him from them. Despite having his memories erased, Major Disaster continues to battle Green Lantern and allies with Epoch.[4]

Major Disaster later learns that he has gained his devices' power innately, but is slowly dying due to their effects. He joins the Injustice League, eventually reforms, and becomes a founding member of Justice League Antarctica.
After returning to crime, Major Disaster makes a deal with Neron to gain enhanced powers in exchange for his soul. Furthermore, he joins the Suicide Squad and a substitute Justice League consisting of Nightwing, Green Arrow, Atom, Hawkgirl, Firestorm, Jason Blood, and Faith while the main group are believed dead.[5]
Major Disaster later joins Justice League Elite, a covert-ops arm of the Justice League led by Vera Black. During the Justice League Elite series, it is revealed that Disaster is alcoholic. His drunken state leads to Hawkgirl being severely injured and Manitou Raven killed.[6] At the end of the Justice League Elite series, he resigns from the League.
In Infinite Crisis, Major Disaster is killed by Superboy-Prime.[7] During the events of Blackest Night, Major Disaster is reanimated as a member of the Black Lantern Corps along with the other heroes killed by Prime, who head to attack him. Prime destroys the Black Lanterns by using a Black Lantern ring to cycle through the emotional spectrum, creating a burst of colored energy.[8]
In The New 52, Major Disaster is resurrected and returns to being a villain.[9] Furthermore, his daughter Penny, a wielder of the H-Dial who is also known as Minor Disaster, is introduced.[10]

Powers and abilities
Major Disaster's powers originally came from a set of weapons he used to cause natural disasters. Over time, exposure to these weapons made the powers internalize and now Disaster can cause chaos at will. His deal with Neron greatly enhanced his powers, enabling him to see the strands of chaos. The disasters he can now control theoretically range from being able to command asteroid showers to causing heart attacks, nose bleeds, and even making people trip up.
