Max Deml (born August 27, 1957)is a German-Austrian journalist, publisher, and entrepreneur best known for pioneering sustainable investment strategies in the German-speaking world.

Since October 1991, he has been editor-in-chief of Ökoinvest,[1][2] a bi-weekly German-language stock market newsletter that focuses on socially responsible, sustainable investments and renewable energies such as solar power.[3] He developed green stock and fund indexes like Nx-25_Natur-Aktien-Index in 2003.[4]

Deml studied psychology, philosophy, and political science in Regensburg, Germany and later he continued his studies in Vienna, Austria. This interdisciplinary background laid the foundation for his later work in sustainable economics
Deml founded Öko-Invest Publishing Ltd. in June 1991[5] after dropping out of the University of Regensburg. He went on to co-found companies like BioArt AG (organic and fair trade food),[6] Fair Finance Holding AG, Grassmugg AG,[7] GreenTec Invest AG,[8] and Prodigium Pictures.[9] Additionally, he serves as chairman of the board of several Austrian companies.[citation needed] He serves on the Environmental Advisory Board of Oeco Capital Life Insurance in Germany and is also a member of the fund committee for the World Wide Fund of Nature Austria.[10] Since 1990, he has co-authored the handbook- Grünes Geld (English: Green Money).[11][12]
His publishing work resulted in him winning the 2020 Austrian SDG Award in the media category, a national prize in Austria issued by the Austrian National Parliament in partnership with the United Nations' Department of Economic and Social Affairs.[13][14]
Since 2012, Deml has performed in a stand-up comedy program titled "Grünes Geld und Frische Blüten - ein C(r)ashkurs" (English: "Green Money and Fresh Dough - a C(r)ash Course").[15][16][17]
