Md. Abu Bakr Siddique

Md. Abu Bakr Siddique is the former secretary of the Ministry of Education in charge of the Secondary and Higher Education Division.[1] He was the former Chairman of the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation.[2][3] He was the Secretary of the Bridges Division.[4] He served in the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs.[5]

Siddique joined the 9th batch of Bangladesh Civil Service administration cadre in 1991.[2]
In 2015, Siddique was the personal officer to the Secretary of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges.[6] He was part of the inauguration run of the Dhaka to Agartala bus service.[6]
Siddique was appointed the Chairman of the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation in October 2020.[7] He replaced Md Shamsul Rahman as chairman.[8] He was the additional secretary of the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs responsible for Political and ICT affairs.[7]
In May 2021, Siddique was appointed the secretary of the Bridges Division of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges.[2] He was appointed the Director of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority.[2]
Siddique was appointed Secretary of the Ministry of Education in January 2022.[9] After his appointment, Siddique paid tribute to the founder of Bangladesh, President Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum.[9] Siddique led a team of the Ministry of Education in September 2022 to visit various universities in the Netherlands.[10] He is the chairman of the Government Mohammadpur Model School & College.[11] He was succeeded by Suleman Khan in January 2023.[12]
