Michael McDonald (born 24 June 1999)[1] is an Irish Australian rugby union player who currently plays for the Waratahs in Super Rugby, on loan from Ulster in the United Rugby Championship (URC). His playing position is scrum-half. He signed to the professional team, the New South Wales Waratahs, in the Super Rugby, for the 2020 season.[2][3][4][5] Ulster announced in July 2022 that McDonald would be joining them on a one-year deal.[6] He was selected for the Emerging Ireland squad for the Toyota Challenge in South Africa in September 2022.[7] In April 2023 it was announced he would move to Connacht on a season-long loan.[8] he returned to Ulster ahead of the 2024-25 season,[9] before signing for the Waratahs as short-term injury cover in March 2025.[10] He left Ulster at the end of the 2024-25 season.[11]
