Morais or Moraes (the latter is an archaic spelling in Portugal, but contemporary in Brazil and India — [mo'ɾajʃ] or [mo'ɾajs] for both variants) is a Portuguese surname.
The link between Morais/Moraes and the Spanish surname Morales is controversial.[1]
