Mucin-6 (MUC-6), also known as gastrin mucus-6 is a protein that is encoded in the human by the MUC6 gene.[5] MUC6, along with MUC2, MUC5AC, and MUC5B, is located within the 11p15 chromosomal locus of chromosome 11. MUC6, along with MUC1, is expressed in normal pancreases.[6]
In the stomach it is expressed in the antrum, in the gastric mucosa in the body, and in the deeper mucous glands of the antrum.[7]
