Aurman Singh (9 November 1999 – 21 August 2023),[1] a 23-year-old delivery driver, was murdered by eight men on 21 August 2023 while delivering in Shrewsbury.
Event
The eight men arrived in Shrewsbury in two cars. They had been given details of Aurman Singh's delivery route by a ninth man, Sukhmandeep Singh, who was Aurman Singh's colleague at DPD. The attack involved a number of weapons, including an axe, a shovel and various pieces of sporting equipment.[2]
Perpetrators
On 28 March 2024, four men from Smethwick and Dudley – Arshdeep Singh, Jagdeep Singh, Shivdeep Singh and Manjot Singh – were convicted of murder at Stafford Crown Court.[2] Sukhmandeep Singh was acquitted of murder and convicted of manslaughter.[2]
On 11 April 2025, Mehakdeep Singh and Sehajpal Singh (both of Tipton) were also convicted of murder at Stafford Crown Court. They had fled abroad and were arrested in Austria in May 2024.[3]
At the 2025 trial, it was heard that the remaining suspect had fled to India.[4]
No motive was suggested by prosecutors at the 2024 trial. The Crown Prosecution Service said that their purpose was to prove that the crime had been committed, and not its motive.[2] At the 2025 trial, the prosecution put forward that the crime was related to unrest at a kabaddi tournament in Derby the previous day. Mehakdeep Singh testified that he was at the tournament and his friend had been hospitalised in the unrest.[5]
