NGC 5007 (also known as Gaia DR2 1675603120267215872[2] and 2MASX J13091431+6210299) is an elliptical Seyfert 2 galaxy located in the constellation Ursa Major.[3] It was discovered on March 17, 1790 by the German-born British astronomer William Herschel.[4] NGC 5007 is situated close to the northern celestial pole and, as such, it is visible for most part of the year from the northern hemisphere. Given its visual magnitude of 13.3, NGC 5007 is visible with the help of a telescope having an aperture of 14 inches (350mm) or more.[5]
