Nathaniel Brooks Horwitz is an Australian-American entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and journalist. He is the co-founder of Mayday Health and Hunterbrook, and was previously a partner at RA Capital Management.

Early life and education
Nathaniel Horwitz was raised in Martha's Vineyard. His father Tony Horwitz, was a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author of Confederates in the Attic. His mother, Geraldine Brooks, is a Pulitzer Prize-winning author of several books, including People of the Book and Caleb's Crossing.[1] Both of his parents were previously correspondents at The Wall Street Journal. Through his mother, Horwitz is Australian. His family split their time between Virginia, Sydney, and Martha's Vineyard.[2]
Horwitz graduated from Martha's Vineyard Regional High School before attending Harvard University, where he received a degree in molecular and cellular biology in 2018.[3] As a student, Horwitz wrote for The Harvard Crimson and invested in and founded biotech startups.[4][5] While at Harvard, Horwitz met Sam Koppelman, with whom he would later found Mayday Health and Hunterbrook.[6] He also founded

Career
After graduating from Harvard, Horwitz joined RA Capital Management, a biotech focused venture capital and asset management firm. He left RA Capital in 2023, shortly before founding Hunterbrook. While at RA Capital, Horwitz founded four biotech companies.[7]
Mayday Health
In 2022, after the Supreme Court's decision in Dobbs v. Jackson, Horwitz, along with Koppelman and Olivia Raisner, co-founded Mayday Health. The three were roommates in Virginia at the time.[8] The nonprofit focused on providing education and information on abortion access.[9] Horwitz became CEO upon the organization's launch before stepping down in 2023. After his departure, Horwitz became Mayday Health's executive chair.[10]
Hunterbrook
In 2023, Horwitz and Koppelman founded Hunterbrook, a hedge fund and investigative journalism outlet.[11] Horwitz became CEO of both Hunterbrook Media and Hunterbrook Capital, which raised $100 million in seed funding upon its launch.[12][13] The company's name is partially derived from Horwitz's mother's last name.[14]
