Nazook
Armenian dessert pastry From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Remove ads
Nazook (also spelled nazuk or nazouk, Armenian Նազուկ) is the name of a rolled Armenian pastry made from flour, butter, sugar, sour cream, yeast, vanilla extract and eggs, with a filling (khoriz) made out of butter, sugar and flour, while nuts, most commonly walnuts are often added to the filling as well.[1] Nazook is sometimes referred to as gata.
There is a variation where lemon and cranberries are used,[2] and a variation where cinnamon constitutes the main filling, essentially turning nazook into a type of cinnamon roll.[3]
