History

According to mythology, the Pandavas installed five Shivalingas here as instructed by Krishna to atone for their sins during the Mahabharata war.^{[citation needed]}

Constructed in the 18th century by Bhavsinhji Takhtasinhji, the ruler of Bhavnagar, Nishkalank Mahadev Temple is believed to be established on the precise location where Shiva appeared in a dream to the ruler.^[2]
