OCIUS Technology, formerly known as Solar Sailor, is an Australian company that once specialised in solar/hybrid powered ferries but now is focused on the development of its flagship class of marine drones known as Bluebottles.[1][2][3]

Ocius is currently a key supplier to the navies of both Australia [4] and New Zealand.[5]

Solar Sailor

A chartered Solar Sailor ferry operates on Sydney Harbour, carrying 100 passengers.[6]

A second ferry was built for the Shanghai World Expo, in association with Suntech Power, carrying 186 passengers.[7]

Four ferries operate in Hong Kong carrying 100 passengers each.[8]

In December 2024, Ocius officially launched the first of two uncrewed surface vessels, known as Bluebottles, for the New Zealand Defence Force. The first of the vessels adopted by the New Zealand Navy were christened Tahi and Rua, after the Maori words for 'one' and 'two'.[9][10]
