Orygmatobothrium is a genus of tapeworms in the family Phyllobothriidae (order Phyllobothriidea). The genus was first described by Austrian zoologist Karl Moriz Diesing in 1863.[1][2][3] Species of Orygmatobothrium are intestinal parasites that infect elasmobranch fishes, particularly sharks of the family Triakidae.[4] They have been recorded from several marine regions, including the Persian Gulf, the Atlantic coast of South America, and the Mediterranean Sea.
