History
Toowong Ward was created in 1994 as a merger of Liberal-held Taringa Ward and Labor-held Paddington Ward. The ward was renamed Paddington Ward prior to the 2016 election after shifting to the north and east, and losing parts of Toowong to Walter Taylor Ward.[3][4]
Councillor Peter Matic announced his intention to step down in April 2023, having served continuously in the Brisbane City Council since 2007. Clare Jenkinson was confirmed as his successor in June 2023.[5]
The incumbent Councillor is Seal Chong Wah of the Greens, who won the seat from Jenkinson at the 2024 Brisbane City Council election.[6] It was the only seat gained by the Greens in that election.
