Pak Thae-song (Korean: 박태성, born 14 September 1955)[1] is a North Korean politician. He is a Vice Chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea and was the Chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly from 2019 to 2023.[2][3][4] On 29 December 2024, Pak was appointed Premier of North Korea at the conclusion of the annual year-end general meeting of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea thereby succeeding Kim Tok-hun.[5]

Biography
After serving as a member of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, he became a candidate member of the party's politburo. In August 2012, he became vice chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.[6] In May 2014, he became the responsible secretary of the party committee in South Pyongan Province. As a key executive in the organizational leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea, he is known as a key figure who actually moves the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. In January 2023, it was confirmed that he resigned as the chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly, and he is currently serving as a member of the political bureau of the Workers' Party of Korea and secretary of the secretariat.[citation needed]
