Permanent Representative of Egypt to the United Nations

History

Egypt has officially retained the permanent representative position at the United Nations since it came into existence on October 24, 1945. Over the years, the country has been actively participating in UN activities, especially in the areas of peacekeeping, decolonization, and disarmament. In addition to serving as permanent representative, Egyptian diplomats have also held the position of UN secretary general such as Boutros Boutros-Ghali, who was elected in January 1992.^[1]
