Peter Chatain (born 8 November 1999) is an American rower. He won a bronze medal in the men's eight at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Early and personal life

He is from Winnetka, Illinois. When he was twelve, he discovered rowing when he attended a University of Michigan rowing camp. At New Trier High School, he initially played hockey but eventually dedicated himself to rowing.

He graduated from Stanford University in 2022 with a degree in mathematics and a minor in physics. He was a graduate student at Stanford University in 2023 studying computer science. After graduation, he accepted a job at a tech start-up firm in San Francisco while simultaneously training for the 2024 Olympics.[2]

Career

In 2021, he won silver with the United States at the Under-23 World Rowing Championships[3] in the men's eight. He then competed in the United States men's eight at the 2023 World Rowing Championships.[4]

He competed in the men's eight at the 2024 Paris Olympics and won a bronze medal with a time of 5:25.28.[5][6]
