The Procyon Stakes (Japanese プロキオンステークス) is a Grade 2 horse race for Thoroughbreds aged four and over, run in January over a distance of 1,800 meters on dirt at Chukyo Racecourse.[1]
It was first run over the distance of 1,400 meters in 1996, open to three and over, and has held Grade 3 status ever since. It was run at Hanshin Racecourse before moving to Chukyo in 2012. In 2025, the race will be promoted to Grade 2 status and will be run in January over a distance of 1,800 meters.[2] The race will now serve as a trial for the February Stakes.
