Proxima Midnight is a member of Thanos' Black Order. Thanos chose her for her expert combat skills. Proxima is the wife of fellow Order member Corvus Glaive. She is sent to Earth to retrieve an Infinity Gem from Namor,[5] but comes into contact with the New Avengers.[6] Proxima is humiliated by Thanos' disapproval of her actions as well as the fact that Namor does not actually possess the Gem.[7] Proxima and the rest of the Order are directed by Namor to Wakanda to search for the Gem, but are distracted when Ebony Maw revealed the location of Thane, Thanos' son. Thane wants nothing to do with his father and imprisons him and Proxima in amber.[8]

Corvus meets up with Namor, who frees Proxima and Thanos, and asks that they join his Cabal due to his own anger towards Earth. However, Namor soon finds himself hating the Cabal's tactics and vows to work with the Illuminati to defeat them. Namor is betrayed, with him and the Cabal being trapped in a universe that is going to be destroyed. They all manage to escape into the Ultimate Marvel universe and vow to get revenge.[9] The Cabal members escape the destruction of the multiverse via a life raft and end up on Battleworld.[10]

Proxima Midnight returns to her own universe when the multiverse is restored.[11] She meets with Thanos and a cloaked figure, later revealed to be Hela, and works with Hela in an attempt to retrieve Mjolnir.[12] Ultimately, Proxima and Hela are humiliated and forced to return empty handed. To prove herself worthy, Hela kills Proxima in front of Thanos.[13][3]

During the "No Surrender" arc, Proxima Midnight is resurrected by the Challenger and battles the Grandmaster's Lethal Legion.[14]
