Pyrimidine oxygenase

Pyrimidine oxygenase (EC 1.14.99.46, RutA) is an enzyme with systematic name uracil,FMNH₂:oxygen oxidoreductase (uracil hydroxylating, ring-opening).^[1][2] This enzyme catalyses the following chemical reaction

(1) uracil + FMNH₂ + O₂ ${\displaystyle \rightleftharpoons }$ (Z)-3-ureidoacrylate peracid + FMN

(2) thymine + FMNH₂ + O₂ ${\displaystyle \rightleftharpoons }$ (Z)-2-methylureidoacrylate peracid + FMN
