Renard Johnson

Renard U. Johnson (born July 28, 1966)^[1] is an American politician currently serving as the mayor of El Paso. He is the first black mayor of El Paso.^[2]

Johnson is a local businessman.^[3] He is the founder of METI Inc, a professional services company.^[4] He has a 40 year career in the federal contracting business.^[5]

Johnson grew up on the northeast side of El Paso and graduated from Andress High School and the University of Texas at El Paso in 1994.^[6] His brother is businessman Timothy Johnson.^[7] In June 2025, Mayor Johnson gave the Key of El Paso to the band Coldplay.^[8]
