Renca is a commune of Chile located in Santiago Province, Santiago Metropolitan Region. It was founded on 6 May 1894.

Demographics

According to the 2002 census of the National Statistics Institute, Renca spans an area of 24.2 km² (9 sq mi) and has 133,500 inhabitants, and the commune is an entirely urban area. The population grew by 3.5% (4,500 people) between the 1992 and 2002 censuses.^[3] The 2006 projected population was 134,690.^[6]

Administration

As a commune, Renca is a third-level administrative division of Chile administered by a municipal council, headed by an alcalde who is directly elected every four years. The 2024-2028 mayor is Claudio Castro (Ind). The communal council has the following members:

The commune is represented in the Senate by Guido Girardi Lavín (PPD) and Jovino Novoa Vásquez (UDI) as part of the 7th senatorial constituency (Santiago-West).
