Rihanna (Rhianna, Rhiannon; Arabic: ريحـانة, romanized: Rīḥāna, Rayḥāna) is a feminine given name of Welsh and Arabic origin.
The name has also become associated in contemporary culture with Barbadian singer and businesswoman Rihanna (full name: Robyn Rihanna Fenty) since the 21st century.

However, the name may possibly derived from the noun rā’iḥāh (رائِحَة) meaning "scent, aroma, smell, odor" or "fragrance or perfume" or "zest of a fruit peel". Rayhana bint Zayd, one of the wives of Muhammad, was Jewish.
