Rila Mukherjee

Rila Mukherjee is a historian and author.^[1] She is a professor at the University of Hyderabad.^[2][3] She is a scholar of Indian Ocean studies.^[4]

Early life and education

Mukherjee's father, Ramkrishna Mukherjee, and mother, Prabhati Mukherjee, were academics.^[5]

Mukherjee completed her PhD from the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences.^[6]

Career

Mukherjee taught history at Jadavpur University from 1992 to 2007.^[6] She joined the University of Hyderabad in 2007.^[6] She is a fellow of the Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Calcutta.^[6] She is a staff member of the International Institute for Asian Studies.^[7] She is the editor of the Asian Review of World Histories published by the Asian Association of World Historians.^[8]
