"Romantic Homicide" is a song by American singer and songwriter, d4vd. It was released through DistroKid on July 20, 2022, and later as the second single from his debut EP, Petals to Thorns.
The song went viral on the social media platform TikTok in September 2022. The music was rereleased through Darkroom and Interscope, and subsequently achieved commercial success.

Background and composition
D4vd recorded the song in his sister's closet and first released it in July 2022.[2] By early September, the song had been used in more than 245,000 clips on TikTok.[3] A live version of the song, alongside its accompanying visualizer, was released on December 8, 2023.[4]
Accompanied by "heavy guitars" and "sentimental percussions", the song deals with unrequited love and breakups.[5] While the song is characterized by its short lyrics, the lyrics were described as having a "more profound meaning".[6]

Music video
The music video was released on September 7, 2022, and was inspired by the singer's love of the film noir genre and anime.[5] It introduces an alter ego named Itami, a Japanese name meaning "pain". Directed by Tommy Kiljoy, it sees the character mourning and moving on from a relationship.[7]
