Romy Madley Croft (born 18 August 1989)[1] who releases solo music as Romy, is an English musician.[2][3] She is the guitarist and co-vocalist of the xx, and she released a solo album, Mid Air, in 2023, which peaked at No. 15 on the UK Albums Chart. She was nominated for the Brit Award for British Dance Act at the 2024 Brit Awards.[4]

Biography
The only child of a teacher mother and a librarian father, Romy grew up in Putney.[5] Her mother died when she was 11.[5] Her father died nine years later.[5]
Her album Mid Air (2023) makes Madley Croft the last member of The xx to release solo material, following Jamie xx's "In Colour" (2015) and Oliver Sim's "Hideous Bastard" (2022).[6]
Jamie xx said of her, "She makes very catchy melodies. That’s the thing that always gets me."[6]
As well as being a member of the xx, Romy has written for Dua Lipa and Kelela, and worked with Fred Gibson, also known as Fred Again.[7]
Her wife is photographer and filmmaker Vic Lentaigne.[6] They first met in 2008.[6]
Romy is a self-described introvert.[6]
