Sade Elhawary

Zeinab Sade Elhawary^[2] is an American politician and community organizer who is the California State Assemblymember for the 57th district. A member of the Democratic Party, Elhawary previously worked as an educator and for Mayor Karen Bass.^[3]

Early life and education

Elhawary was born in Los Angeles to immigrant parents. She is half-Guatemalan and half-Egyptian.^[4] She received her bachelor's degree from the University of California, Los Angeles and her master's degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.^[5]
