Samarium oxychloride or samarium oxide chloride is an inorganic compound of samarium, oxygen, and chlorine with the chemical formula SmOCl.[1]

Synthesis
SmOCl can be synthesized by heating samarium oxide in a currect of chlorine.[2]
Physical properties
The compound forms white crystals of the tetragonal system,[3] space group P4/nmm.[4]
SmOCl thermally decomposes to form Sm2O3.[4]
Uses
SmOCl is investigated as a photocatalyst for environment remediation.[5] Also used as a catalyst.[6]
