Captain Sanjeev Singh Jamwal (born 2 August 1974) is an officer in the Indian Army, known for his gallantry during the Kargil War in 1999. He was awarded the prestigious Vir Chakra for his heroic leadership in the assault on Point 5140.

Early life and education
Jamwal was born in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, into a military family. He attended Sainik School Sujanpur Tira, known for producing many notable Indian Armed Forces officers.
Military career
Jamwal was commissioned into the Army Service Corps on 7 June 1997. During the Kargil War, he was attached to 13 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles and played a leading role in several key operations, notably:
Battle of Point 5140
In a daring night assault on 19–20 June 1999, Jamwal led Bravo Company up steep terrain under enemy fire.[1] He cut communication lines and launched a surprise attack, resulting in the elimination of six enemy soldiers. His victory signal – "Oh! Yeah, yeah, yeah!" – became legendary.

On 15 August 1999, he was conferred the Vir Chakra for exceptional bravery and leadership.
