Santo Stefano al Mare (Ligurian: San Stéva[3]) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Imperia in the Italian region Liguria, located about 100 kilometres (62 mi) southwest of Genoa and about 9 kilometres (6 mi) southwest of Imperia. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,260 and an area of 2.7 square kilometres (1.0 sq mi).[4]
Santo Stefano al Mare borders the following municipalities: Cipressa, Pompeiana, Riva Ligure, and Terzorio.

Geography
The town can be found on the Riviera of Ponente, at around eight miles (13 km) from the chief town of Genova. Its strategic placement helps to maintain a mild climate throughout the year, with temperatures rarely reaching the 0° in winter and overcoming the 30° in summer.
