School of Motion is an online learning platform[2] for motion designers. Founded by Joey Korenman in 2013, School of Motion grew from a series of After Effects tutorials by Korenman,[3] to his course Animation Bootcamp, to over 20 in-depth courses[4][5] taught by industry professionals.

In addition to their paid courses, School of Motion offers free resources. They have a YouTube channel with over 400,000 subscribers which features tutorials, interviews with industry leaders, reel/portfolio reviews for alumni, and tool reviews. They often partner with Adobe[6] to offer workshops and demonstrations, with various School of Motion staff and instructors presenting at Adobe MAX[7] and NAB.[8][9]

School of Motion is a Maxon authorized training partner for Cinema 4D and Redshift.[10]

History

After years as a Creative Director at an advertising agency and as an instructor at Ringling College of Art and Design, Joey Korenman left Boston and spent the next two years developing content for School of Motion.[11][12][13]

Guided courses

School of Motion offers quarterly guided courses[4] which range from 8-12 weeks in duration. Lesson videos are pre-recorded, and released twice a week with homework assignments. All students are assigned to a teaching assistant who provides feedback about their work. Students can interact with their classmates and teaching assistants via a private forum.[14]
