Serhiy Holovatyi (Ukrainian: Сергій Петрович Головатий; born 29 May 1954[1]) is a Ukrainian lawyer, politician, former member of parliament, and former Minister of Justice of Ukraine. He is a judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and has been the Acting Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine since 29 December 2020.[2] He served as a Member of the Ukrainian Parliament during the I[3] to VI[4] convocations and as the Minister of Justice of Ukraine in 1995-1997 and 2005-2006.[5][2] He is a former member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU). In the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, he was a member of various parliamentary factions and groups, including Our Ukraine, BYuT (Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc), and the Party of Regions.[6]

On 27 February 2018 he was appointed a judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.[7] On 2 March he took the oath of office and began to perform judicial duties.[8] Chairman of the Standing Committee on Legal Terminology of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.[9] Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine since 17 September 2019.[10]
Since 29 December 2020 he has been acting President of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine in accordance with Article 33 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Constitutional Court of Ukraine”.[11] On 30 May 2024 his powers were terminated upon reaching the age of 70.[12]
