Shehnaaz Kaur Gill (born 27 January 1994)[1][2][3][4] is an Indian actress, model and singer who works in television and films.[5] She began her modelling career with the 2015 music video, Shiv Di Kitaab.[6][7] In 2017, she debuted as an actress in Punjabi film Sat Shri Akaal England. In 2019, she participated in the reality show Bigg Boss 13[8] where she finished in third place.[9]

Early life and career beginnings

Gill was born on 27 January 1994 and raised in Punjab, India.[1][2][3][4] She loved to act and sing, and dream to be an actor since childhood.[10]

She did her schooling from Dalhousie Hilltop School, Dalhousie and completed her graduation from Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, and has a degree in commerce.[citation needed]

She began her career by featuring in "Shiv Di Kitaab" in 2015. Gill appeared in "Majhe Di Jatti" and "Pindaan Diyan Kudiyaan" in 2016. Gill's another music video came with Garry Sandhu titled Yeah Baby Refix.[11] Gill also starred in some Punjabi films such as Sat Shri Akaal England in 2017, Kala Shah Kala and Daaka in 2019.[12]

Bigg Boss 13 and further ventures

In September 2019, Gill entered as a celebrity participant on Bigg Boss 13. While she was in the Bigg Boss house, her first single, "Veham" came out, followed by some other singles including "Sidewalk", "Range" and "Ronda Ali Peti".[citation needed] The season ended in February 2020, where Gill finished up as second runner-up.[13] In February 2020, she appeared in Mujhse Shaadi Karoge but it terminated within a month because of the COVID-19 pandemic.[14]

Gill then appeared in a number of music videos including "Bhula Dunga",[15] "Keh Gayi Sorry",[16] "Kurta Pajama",[17] "Waada Hai",[18] "Shona Shona"[19] and "Fly".[20][21]

In 2021, Gill appeared in Punjabi film Honsla Rakh opposite Diljit Dosanjh.[22]

In 2023, Gill appeared in Hindi films Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan produced by Salman Khan[23] and Thank You For Coming produced by Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor.[24]

Gill was ranked 13th and 11th in the Times Top 20 Most Desirable Women on TV in 2019 and 2020 respectively.[25][26] She was ranked at No. 45 in The Times Most Desirable Women in 2020.[27] In 2021, Gill appeared on the digital cover of Filmfare[28] and was awarded as the "Promising Fresh Face" at the ET Inspiring Women Awards.[29][30] She is also one of the most-followed Indian television actresses in Instagram.[31]
