Shenzhen Medical Academy of Research and Translation

Shenzhen Medical Academy of Research and Translation, (SMART) (Chinese name: 深圳医学科学院), is a new scientific research institution established by the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government. It aims to promote medical and technological innovation and achievement transformation, focusing on people's life and health. The academy is committed to exploring new scientific research mechanisms, introducing and cultivating high-level talents, integrating scientific research, educational exchanges, innovation incubation, policy consultation and scientific and technological resource management, and is committed to building a highland of biomedical innovation in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area.^[1]

Course

Shenzhen Medical Academy of Research and Translation will be unveiled on December 10, 2022, and will be officially established on November 21, 2023. It will be located in Guangming Life Science Park, Pingshan district, Shenzhen. Yan Ning, a famous structural biologist, will serve as the founding dean, marking the launch of its international and high-level talent strategy. The Academy of Sciences is supported by the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and the State Council of China and is one of the important projects in Shenzhen's construction of a pilot demonstration zone of socialism with Chinese characteristics.^[1][2]

Architecture

The Academy of Sciences implements the president responsibility system under the leadership of the Party Committee, the Council is the decision-making body, the president is recruited globally and the term system is implemented, and the Academic Committee is the highest academic institution. The institution has no fixed staffing or level, adopts a socialized employment system and a market-based salary mechanism, and focuses on flexible talent introduction and academic autonomy.^[3]
