History

A post office was established at Soperton in 1902.^[5] The city was named after Benjamin Franklin Soper, a railroad official.^[6]

The Georgia General Assembly incorporated Soperton as a town in 1902.^[7]

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.3 square miles (8.5 km²), of which 3.2 square miles (8.3 km²) is land and 0.04 square miles (0.10 km²) (0.61%) is water.
