Sovetsky District (Russian: Сове́тский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[5] district (raion), one of the twenty-eight in Kursk Oblast, Russia. It is located in the west of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,150 square kilometers (440 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the urban locality (a work settlement) of Kshensky.[1] Population: 16,348 (2021 Census);[7] 19,080 (2010 Census);[3] 23,673 (2002 Census);[8] 28,252 (1989 Soviet census).[9] The population of Kshensky accounts for 34.2% of the district's total population.[3]
