The program is coached by J. J. Clark.[4] The track and field program officially encompasses four teams because the NCAA considers men's and women's indoor track and field and outdoor track and field as separate sports.[5]
The men's team most recently won the 2000 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships in large part due to their distance runners.[6][7]
