Stratford is a township municipality in Le Granit Regional County Municipality in the Estrie region in Quebec, Canada. A township municipality is all or part of the territory of a township (townships were originally only a land surveying feature) set up as a municipality.
The first European settlers arrived in 1848.[4] The town is named after Stratford-upon-Avon in England.[5]
The town contains Lake Elgin and part of Lake Aylmer.
The population, almost entirely francophone,[6] was 1,036 in the Canada 2021 Census.

In the 2021 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, Stratford had a population of 1,036 living in 533 of its 946 total private dwellings, a change of 9.6% from its 2016 population of 945. With a land area of 119.86 km2 (46.28 sq mi), it had a population density of 8.6/km2 (22.4/sq mi) in 2021.[7]
