Subhash K. Jha

Subhash K. Jha is an Indian journalist and film critic.^[1][2] Based in Patna, Bihar,^[3] he is currently film critic with The Times of India,^[4] Firstpost,^[5] Deccan Chronicle^[6] and DNA News,^[7] Rediff.com,^[8] Free Press Journal,^[9] besides TV channels Zee News^[10] and News18 India.^[11] In the 1980s, he was also book reviewer with The Illustrated Weekly of India, a publication of The Times Group.^[12] Other past media outlets he wrote for include entertainment portal Bollywood Hungama.^[13]

Jha is one of the leading and well-known film critics in India.^{[1][14][15][16][17]} His book, The Essential Guide To Bollywood, was positively reviewed, with Rachna Singh of The Tribune writing, "The gloss and starry glitter notwithstanding, Jha’s book is a wonderful collection of 200 films spanning almost seven decades of Indian cinema."^[18] IndiaFM wrote, "Jha, a very recognized figure in the world of film journalism ends up giving up his personal favorite list of Bollywood films."^[14] As far as critiquing music is concerned, he is an unabashed fan of the nightingale, Lata Mangeshkar. He has an encyclopedic view of her works. Especially her rare gems.
