Susan D. Stuebner is an American academic administrator who served as the ninth president of Colby–Sawyer College from 2016 to 2024. She was named the 21st President of Marietta College, but resigned before reporting to campus.[1]

Stuebner is from Deephaven, Minnesota.[2] She earned an A.B. in psychology at Dartmouth College.[2] She completed an Ed.M. in administration, planning, and social policy and an Ed.D. in higher education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.[2]

Stuebner researches leadership, decision-making, and the sustainability of private liberal arts colleges.[2] At Albright College, Stuebner was an assistant women's basketball coach, admissions counselor, and special assistant to the academic dean.[3][2] She worked as a freshman proctor and director of freshman intramurals at Harvard College and was a teaching fellow at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.[2] Stuebner was a special assistant to the president at Wheelock College.[2] She was an academic counselor at Dartmouth College while she completed her dissertation.[3] She worked at Lycoming College for ten years including as the vice president for administration and planning.[2]

Stuebner was the executive vice president and chief operating officer at Allegheny College.[3][2] On July 1, 2016, Stuebner became the ninth president and a professor of business and social sciences of Colby–Sawyer College.[2] She held the Volanakis Family Presidential Chair.[2] She was succeeded by interim president Laura A. Sykes.[4]

Stuebner has two children.[3]
