Syvash (Ukrainian: Сиваш) is a village at the southernmost point of the Chonhar Peninsula on the northern coast of the Syvash sea in the Henichesk Raion of Kherson Oblast, Ukraine. It has a population of 257.[1] It belongs to Henichesk urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine.[2] The Novooleksiivka–Dzhankoi railway line runs over a bridge and embankment across the sea near the village.
Syvash was captured by Russian ground forces on the first day of the Russian Invasion of Ukraine phase of the Russo-Ukrainian War when they crossed the nearby border of the de facto Republic of Crimea.[citation needed]
