Production
Over seven years, Malaney and her team went on to record 26 hours' worth footage on Satish Bhaskar alone.[7] The filmmakers employed a cinematic recreation process where artist and actor Rohan Joglekar reprised the role of the young Satish Bhaskar who ventures to these islands for turtle surveys. Behind the scenes, Bhaskar would teach Joglekar how he had conducted his surveys and about the types of eggs and turtles. Joglekar would then recreate it on camera.[8]

Reception
Radhika Iyengar of The Nod observed, "Turtle Walker is suffused with quiet, beautiful scenes. Whether discreetly documenting Olive Ridley turtles laying eggs or recording the hatching of baby turtles at night and watching them scurry away with their tiny flippers towards the vast ocean for their first swim—it is the stunning cinematography that invites the viewer into the world of these mysterious species."[9] Dan Pal of PalCinema wrote, "What the film does is present a loving portrait of not only Bhaskar but also of the turtles which so fascinated him. His dedicated journey is quite impressive, making the call to continue his legacy and research all the more important."[10]
