V. C. Chandhirakumar

V. C. Chandhirakumar (born 1967)[1] is an Indian politician from Tamil Nadu. He was a member of the 14th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from the Erode East Assembly constituency. He represented the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam party and later shifted to Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.[2]
Early life and education
Kumar is from Erode, Tamil Nadu. He is the son of R. Chokkalingam. He studied Class 10 at Sengunthar Higher Secondary School, Erode and passed the S.S.L.C. examinations in 1982. He and his wife are in real estate business.[1]
Career
Kumar won from Erode East Assembly constituency representing the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in the 2025 by-election. He defeated M. K. Seethalakshmi of the Naam Tamilar Katchi by a margin of 91,558 votes.[3][4][5] Earlier, he lost the 2016 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election for Erode East seat to K. S. Thennarasu of the AIADMK by a margin of 7,794 votes.[6] He first became an MLA winning the 2011 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election on DMDK ticket as he defeated his DMK rival, S. Muthusamy, by a margin of 10,644 votes.[7][8]
