The Vanguard Trophy is a special honor presented within the framework of the Multishow Brazilian Music Award, created to recognize artists who have stood out for their innovation, impact, and lasting contributions to Brazilian music and culture.[1] Launched in 2024, the trophy is part of the Multishow Award, which, since its inception in 1994, has established itself as one of Brazil's biggest music awards, highlighting the leading talents and productions of the Brazilian industry across various categories.[2][3]
Inspired by international awards that celebrate remarkable artistic careers, the Vanguard Trophy aims to honor prominent figures in music whose work transcends conventional boundaries, shaping new paths for the music industry.[4] This initiative symbolizes Multishow's commitment to keeping pace with the transformations of Brazilian and global music, celebrating artists whose cultural impact and legacy extend beyond the stage and recording studios.[4]
The first recipient of the Vanguard Trophy will be singer Anitta, chosen for her unique trajectory marked by constant musical innovation and her ability to blend various styles such as funk, pop, reggaeton, and electronic music, creating a distinctive and universal sound.[5][6] Her international prominence, collaborations with major global music artists, and the popularization of Brazilian funk abroad have solidified her position as one of the most influential Latin music artists of today.[7] Beyond her musical relevance, Anitta is also celebrated for her activism, female empowerment, and a cultural legacy that transcends the artistic realm.[8]
Although the Multishow Award has previously honored artists for their contributions in past editions, the Vanguard Trophy marks the first exclusive initiative to recognize careers with significant impact.[9][10][11]
