Varnavinsky District (Russian: Варна́винский райо́н) is an administrative district (raion), one of the forty in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Russia.[1] Municipally, it is incorporated as Varnavinsky Municipal District.[4] It is located in the north of the oblast. The area of the district is 2,523.4 square kilometers (974.3 sq mi).[1] Its administrative center is the urban locality (a work settlement) of Varnavino.[1] Population: 13,366 (2010 Census);[2] 15,867 (2002 Census);[6] 15,130 (1989 Soviet census).[7] The population of Varnavino accounts for 26.0% of the district's total population.[2]
